Leaving ResNet.

When a student leaves St Leonards, ICT Services will on presentation of the laptop restore the device to its delivery configuration so that it can be easily integrated into other systems. There will be no fee for this service.

This procedure would allow for the recovery of software owned by, or licensed to, the school for reallocation. If the owner departs the school not having made their laptop reconfigured then the laptop can be returned to the school up to 6 months after departure.

All liability for postage and transit insurance for both submission and return will rest with the owner. Only reconfiguration of the laptop will be undertaken no additional support or repair service will be obtainable or offered.

Procedure.

To assist ICT Services, students wishing their ResNet laptops to be reconfigured must book a time slot in advance with ICT Services. ICT Services will require possession of the laptop for 1 day.

  • ICT Services have 4 time slots available per day and they can be booked on a first come - first serve basis by attending the ICT Services office in person. Appointments cannot be made by email, telephone or by a 3rd party unless exceptional circumstances prevail.
  • If a student fails to keep their time slot then another appointment will have to be made - no exceptions.
  • Students, if they wish can leave their laptops with ICT and they be will allocated the time slot missed by other students. Obviously ICT Services cannot guarantee when these laptops will be completed.
  • Students will be notified by email when the reconfiguration has been completed.
  • ICT Services will be open between 9.15 and 12.00 am and 1.30 to 4.15pm for the delivery and collection of laptops.
  • It is the personal responsibility of the Student owning the ResNet laptop to bring and collect their laptops from ICT Services.
  • ICT Services will not carry out any supplementary repairs or upgrades at this point. Any outstanding issues must be resolved at least 14 working days before the reconfiguration process. This is to allow any manufacturer repairs to be carried out prior to departure. The resolution of any issues that cannot be resolved by ICT Services prior to departure will rest with the owner and can be carried out under the manufactures 3 year warranty, if valid.
  • ICT Services will copy the contents of the 'My Documets' folder onto DVD media to a limit of 4 gigabyte. If the contents of the 'My Documents' folder exceed 4 gigabyte, ICT Services will exclude audio and video media in the first instance.

It is strongly recommended that owners of ResNet laptops make an independent copy of their critical data before submitting their laptops for reconfiguration.
